Commendation awarded by Admiral R.K. Turner for actions during assault on April 3, 1945 at Okinawa Shima.

Lloyd served on the USS Arikara ATF 98. Before that he was on the USS Joseph E Campbell DE 70.

"I count every day a bonus. I came close to death in the war and I'm still here this Veteran's Day (2003) and I still think of all the young men that lost their lives. They are the real heroes and I pray for our boys that are now fighting now in foreign countries trying to make the world safe for all of us".
