USS Menominee ATF 73
As Ed Loebs watched a Japanese torpedo plane came in low from the hills
towards the beach. As it got over the water it turned and flew parallel with
the shoreline. It went past us and dropped it's torpedo which went right
into the USS Honolulu. His ship the USS Menominee went over to help save
her. In this photo you can see the ATF 73 Menominee alongside her and on the
otherside (you can barely make her out) is the ATF Potawatomi. (US

Of historical interest, this is the newspaper article about the USS Honolulu
and the role the Menominee and Potawatomi played in helping save her.
